Welcome to Artist Spotlight, where each week we will give you the rundown on an underrated musician (“underrated” here meaning any artist with under 200k listeners on Spotify). This week: Déyyess!

The self-proclaimed “people’s lesbian princess”, Déyyess, is an emerging alt-pop singer songwriter from Canterbury, England. She completed her first headline tour earlier this year after supporting Alessi Rose on the Voyeur tour at the end of 2025, during which she proved herself as a born performer. Déyyess’ latest single, Crush, was released just under a month ago and is already a fan favourite.

Déyyess’ music is inspired by The Cocteau Twins, The Cranberries and more modern queer icons like Chappell Roan. Her music discusses themes of yearning, identity and heartbreak, so whether it’s your crying playlist or your empowerment playlist you want to expand, Déyyess would make a brilliant addition. She describes her vibe as “sparkly grunge” and likens it to the ache you would feel when watching the person you like dancing with someone else at a high school prom.
A fun fact:
Déyyess grew up playing football in her back garden and was actually scouted to play for the Arsenal Girls team, but after discovering Lady Gaga at the age of twelve she decided to focus on music, in the hopes that she can provide a safe space for queer fans as Gaga did for her. Football is still a passion of hers and she loves to play after a day in the writing room.
