Being Bookish and Everything That Comes with It

Hello my favourite book besties,

Can we talk about how reading a book somehow turns into collecting everything around the

book too?

Because it starts innocently.

You buy a book.

Then suddenly you need a bookmark. Then a book jumper. Then a cute little sign for your

shelf. Then you are looking at book figures and thinking, “Well, I can’t leave that behind.”

Being a book lover is not just about the stories anymore — it is about creating a little world

around them.

One of my favourite bookish items has to be bookmarks.

There is something so satisfying about having a pretty bookmark waiting for you. Whether it

matches the book you are reading, has a favourite quote on it, or is just something cute that

makes you smile, bookmarks make reading feel like an experience.

And yes, technically anything can be a bookmark — a receipt, a random piece of paper, a

scrap of packaging — but having a proper one feels different.

It is like a tiny accessory for your book.

Next on my list: book jumpers.

A cosy jumper and a good book just belong together. There is something about curling up in a

warm oversized jumper, getting comfortable, and disappearing into a story.

Book jumpers are also a fun way to show your personality. Maybe it has a quote from your

favourite book, a cute reading design, or just gives off that “don’t bother me, I’m reading”

Energy.

And speaking of comfortable clothes, oversized book tops deserve a mention.

They are perfect for those lazy reading days where comfort wins. Big, cosy, and usually

covered in something book-related — what more could you want?

But the bookish collecting does not stop there.

Book signs are another favourite for creating a reading space. A little sign on your shelf or

reading corner can make the area feel personal. Whether it says something funny, inspiring,

or just celebrates books, it adds that extra bit of magic.

Then we have book figures.

These are dangerous because you always think, “I’ll just get one.”

Then suddenly there is a whole collection.

Book figures can bring favourite characters to life and make your shelves feel like they

belong to the worlds you love reading about.

And honestly, that is what makes bookish items so special.

They are not just things.

They are reminders of stories you loved, characters you connected with, and moments where

a book made you feel something.

Reading might start with a single book, but sometimes it grows into a whole little collection

of things that make you happy.

And really… is there anything better than a cosy reading corner surrounded by books and all

the little things that make you smile?

Love,

Your autistic book bestie.
