Book Review: Don’t Let Him In

We are always one to pick up a thriller at any given opportunity. And Lisa Jewell is one of the perfect authors to please our thriller cravings.

This psychological thriller is about one connection between three women, and not in a way they would like. There is the perfect man though. After Nina receives a card from her late husband’s friend, she finds he wants to reconnect. He's got the swoon and a great guy but to her daughter everything is too good to be true. This leads to her doing some digging and finding some dark truths. In another world, Martha is just a florist who is devoted to her husband Alistair, but he is always away with work and disappearing. With questions and having a feeling something isn't right. When lines lead to each other the past won't be buried forever.

When choosing this book I liked the idea of it and the concept. I had never read anything like this apart from watching documentaries of the happening in real life. For myself I still am not sure how I feel about this. Part of me enjoyed it and part of me was disappointed.

What I enjoyed about it was being kept on your toes all the time. There were so many different time lines which had its problems but at the same time you couldn't be bored. All the different lives and identities created a rush and an in depth storyline. I liked the characters in particular the different wives, they were empowering and could not feel like you were trying to uncover the truth too.

The downside to this book is that it could be confusing. My advice if you were to read this, have the time, because even if I left it one night I found it hard to get myself into the zone. I normally am quite good with lots going on but when you had someone playing three different lives on top of all the other characters it could become hard to remember context.

If you are a lover of The Tinder Swindler on Netflix, this book sure is for you.

Overall I rated this 3 stars.
