Whilst having our book club we like to delve into other book clubs, especially Sophia Tuxford’s: Fully Booked. This book club pick was Magnolia Parks by Jessa Hastings which is in the Magnolia Parks Universe.
Magnolia and BJ are meant to be but he is just the bad boy that has broken her heart. She dates others whilst he sleeps with others to get back at her. Despite all of this they always seem to find a way back to each other. When cracks appear, lies begin to creep out and only leads to a question they've both been avoiding. But like they say, how many loves do you get in a lifetime?
This contemporary romance book/series I have heard nothing but hype about. I felt I was the alien in the group at the time but after discussing how much I didn't enjoy this, others around me said the same. Did I miss something? Let's start off with what I enjoyed first because it wasn't all bad.
Where this story is set gives all the gossip girl vibes you would want. The lifestyle you were drawn into within the story made it fun, from shopping to where they lived and socialite events. I think this was the only thing that kept me going the turnaround of where you were going next with the characters.
The characters I struggled to connect and like. I don't think there was anything I liked which obviously made it hard to read. When the storyline centered around two loves not being good for each other and going back and forth it became boring. I don't even want to count how many items they made up to break up again, let's just say the ending I was not shocked at. I used to love a toxic romance from time to time and I am not sure after reading this it was just not for me or I have lost the love for a bit of toxic spice. With them bouncing back and forth it just became boring for me. Maybe it is my age showing a girl in their twenties but it didn't fulfill me or excite me.
All and all I am willing to try the next book as it did leave you on a cliff hanger and I am not someone who will just give up on a book.
I would rate it 2.5/5.
