His First Father’s Day: Celebrating Before Baby Arrives

Dear Diary,

We just celebrated our first Father’s Day! This weekend was packed with lots of new things and events. Saturday morning, my husband and I were up early to head out to one of the largest farmer’s markets in the province! It was just under two hours away and it was worth every minute. There was so much fresh produce, vendors, food, drinks and the people were so lovely and happy. It felt like we were back in Spain visiting the mercados. We spent all morning and early afternoon walking around, trying samples, buying groceries and meeting new people. If you’re ever in Ontario looking for some fresh fruits (at a good price too!) definitely visit St. Jacob’s Market!

In the evening, we returned to the city and joined my mother-in-law and the rest of the family for the World Cup watch party at the Harbourfront. It was such a fun atmosphere and my husband enjoyed every minute of it! 90 minutes is a long time to stay on my feet, but luckily there were some folding chairs reserved for elderly and people in need. The security guard must have seen me rubbing my tummy and back because she kindly offered for me to take a seat for the rest of the game. We ended the night with a sweet treat from Domino’s - baby loves lava cakes!

On Sunday, I gifted my husband a round of golf with my dad, brother and a friend. I promised I wouldn’t text or call him the entire time he was golfing - the perfect Father’s Day gift! He got to play at a really nice course and enjoyed the day off from cleaning and cooking. Meanwhile, I’d been running errands trying to get everything we need for next week’s gender reveal party! I was able to buy most of the groceries that would stay fresh for a week, as well as most of our decor. I’ve planned out how and when I will try to cook everything leading up to the big day.

I’ll let you in on a little secret… there will be lots of blue!

The countdown is also officially on to find a new place to live. As much as we love our current condo, we are in desperate need for more space, especially after seeing how big cribs and play packs are! We’re hoping to find a place to sign a lease for in the next few weeks of summer, while I’m on summer holidays. It feels like there’s so much to do and so little time!

Stay tuned for the big gender reveal next weekend!

B
