The Second Trimester Begins: Life at 4 Months Pregnant

Dear Diary,

This week’s milestones are here! We are officially 16 weeks along. Only 5 months left to go... 

Time seems to be flying! As we near the halfway point of this journey, the nerves are starting to settle in more and more.

I’ve begun to order some decorations and items for the gender reveal. Although, we still don’t know what the baby is... which is also adding to my anxiety. The anatomy scan is two weeks away and all I can think about is if the baby is okay. Am I doing everything right? How will I know if there’s something wrong?

Trying to keep my head clear of the nagging thoughts, I’ve decided to pour all my free time into either our extracurriculars or planning the baby shower. Our theme is ‘Slugger or Sweetheart’ and we’re doing lots of baseball and pink hearts everywhere! I think it’s such an adorable idea and I’m glad that it’s somewhat unique and not the same as everyone else I’ve been seeing this year. I wanted to do something more personal to us, and with softball season starting up again, I

thought this would be perfect! We’re keeping it small and intimate, only immediate family and close friends. We wanted to do lots of custom items, so I’ve decided to bake my own cupcakes and make most of the food myself at home. I found the cutest cupcake toppers with baseball themed pictures, and am trying to learn how to pipe flowers and hearts with my own icing.

I’ve planned a few games for our guests and am planning on making a scrapbook for the baby with polaroid photos of every guest and their baby predictions! I’ve always dreamed of a scrapbook that my kids can look back at when they’re older, especially to honour those that may not be here when our baby is older.

We’ve also started narrowing down our list of names. It’s very difficult for me to keep things a secret! I’m just so excited that I want to share everything with everyone who asks. But I promised myself I would keep it a secret until the baby arrives, especially since there are still so many weeks to go.

My next step is to start putting together the baby registry! I’ve been putting this one off because it’s been so overwhelming sifting through the thousands of products online. I’m trying to keep my list of essentials first, and then add things that would be nice to have after.
