Barnsley looks through Chris Moores lens into the fashion industry

A fashion exhibition has arrived in Barnsley, Cannon Hall Farm after a three year delay due to covid.


From 20 May to 10 August The Bowes Museum celebrates high sew making and the creation of exclusive fashions.


It is open Tuesday to Sunday 11am to 4pm and 11am to 4pm everyday during school holidays.


This summer "Catwalking: Fashion Through the Lens of Chris Moore" dives into the storytelling of era defining fashion moments.

Chris Moore, King of catwalk photography, celebrates fashion editorial with a photographic collection of garments.


After entering the world of fashion at the age of 20, Chris Moore started his career as a photographer's assistant at Vogue.


A catwalk that has changed over six decades Chris shows this through 200 original photographs including behind the scenes footage of the fashion industry.


Garments including names like Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood and Christian Dior.

They display original catwalk outfits from the house of Comme des Garcons, Jean Paul Gaultier and Vivienne Westwood.


One major collection displayed by Vivienne Westwood from 1995 with her striped bondage tailored suit and Alexander McQueen's embroidered suit from 1999.

There are features of supermodels including celebrities Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and Linda Evangelista.


A touching addition involved Barnsley women who made history within the fashion industry.


Victoria Nixon, Barnsley bred ex-model was a key figure known for modeling a steel dress for British Steel.


A replica of the gown is featured within the exhibition.

"A Male Perspective: Redressing Fashion" gave a modern angle to the exhibition with looks collected over the past 40 years by Simon Nicholls, Barnsley based salon owner.

Now 89, Chris Moore still lives for photography and now works with international agencies providing shots.
