Inside the Latest F1 Car Regulation Changes

2026 is full of exciting changes in Formula One. Here at Luna we are going to be here to spill the beans on the race weekend.

Now lets start off with the biggest change being aerodynamics! The wings, the floor which helps with airflow which then creates a massive downforce pushing the car tires onto the track for corners and speed. And on top of that minimising the drag in and around the track.

This means the cars on track will be smaller, narrower and have less weight. With the wheels being shortened means that they can react better around corners. Of course with Pirelli tyres as always.

There is also a new thing called Active Aero. Where each car can adjust both wings wherever they are on track. They can lose to keep grip so when it comes to those straights they can open them back up creating low drag mode. With this comes the downfall of the DRS. With the rear wing flaps being able to open it can make it not necessary to be used.

With overtake mode it is for attacking. But can only be triggered when there is a car in front within one single second. Recently they have created a boost button which was renamed, which drivers can use to overtake giving them enough charge in their battery. But they can only be used across the lap session or immediately. Which can create strategies for teams to use it wisely.

There will be some responsibility to the drivers especially with their battery. They will have to take control of this and work with their race engineer where they can choose different modes and use them tactically.

With new units within the cars means adapting and finding ways to make it work. With hybrid cars the energy recovery systems are able to recharge due to the battery and can do this twice as much in a lap. But there are downsides that as they gain power it means cost and added weight.

For the first time ever all power units will be used with advanced sustainable fuels, how amazing.

All of these changes may be hard to get around for our ride or die F1 fans. But change means we will get faster and more exciting cars to watch. It will be more challenging as viewers and the teams racing but it will bring more attacks and surely that's what brings the fun? And let's not forget how much better this can be for the environment too!
