My Predictions For My Life With The Walter Boys Season 3

Will contain spoilers for Season 1 and Season 2
Whether you love them or hate them, love triangles in TV shows are everywhere, particularly if they involve a pair of brothers. Netflix’s My Life With The Walter Boys, based off Ali Novak’s Wattpad novel of the same name, offers a soapy, escapist teen romance drama where one of the highest stakes is the classic question: does our young heroine choose the broody, bad-boy old brother or the sweet, safe younger brother?
Netflix has just announced season 3 of My Life With The Walter Boys will be premiering on the streaming service on 6 August, promising a summer of drama, angst and family feuds. The show follows high schooler Jackie Howard (Nikki Rodriguez) adjusting to life in rural Colorado after the tragic death of her family who were killed in a car accident. Jackie is sent to live with her guardians the Walters, made up of parents Katherine (Saah Rafferty, best known for Suits) and George (Marc Blucas) and their ten children. As Jackie adapts to life on the ranch, she soon becomes embroiled in the tense rivalry between brothers Cole (Noah LaLonde) and Alex (Ashby Gentry) and is faced with choosing which boy she loves.
The dramatic finale of season 2, released in 2025, offers multiple plot lines for further development and resolution. Following George Walters’ collapse, seemingly a heart attack, it remains to be seen if the family patriarch survives but the ripple effects of this tragedy will be felt across the entire family, from Jackie whose life has already been scarred by loss and the Walter boys who rely on their father as an anchor.
Season two saw the continuation of the push and pull dynamic between Jackie, Cole and Alex, with the second series ending with Alex overhearing Cole’s love confession to Jackie. I suspect the love triangle which has dominated the show from the beginning will continue to rumble on and Jackie and Cole will only get their chance to explore a possible relationship near the conclusion of this new season as Jackie wrestles between safety and risk. The arrival of new cast member Naveen Paddock as intern Eliot opens the possibility of the love triangle returning once more into being a love square as another love interest vying for Jackie’s attention.
Beyond the central Jackie-Cole-Alex plotline, My Life With The Walter Boys does sometimes falter with creating compelling, entertaining subplots but there are some storylines hinted in the first-look photographs which I am intrigued by. Cole looks set to find a new passion for motorsports following his career-ending leg injury which stopped him becoming a professional football player, whether his impulsive nature couples with an adrenaline-filled sport is another question. My second favourite couple on the show Danny Walters (Connor Stanhope) and Erin Collins (Alisha Newton) look happy and in love and I hope it stays this way, their season 2 fights were drawn out and dull. What could be the most interesting, new storyline which could flesh out some existing characters is the introduction of George’s sister Hannah (Erin Karpluk), mother of the currently two-dimensional characters Isaac and Lee. Understanding why their mother abandoned them with the Walters and why she is back will create another dynamic of strained family ties which could unlock tensions across the whole Walter family unit.
Following the show’s exciting if cliched first season, I was slightly disappointed by the quality of the second iteration which chose to repeat and recycle storylines and focus too much on dull side plots. I am looking forward to reinvesting myself in Team Cole or Team Alex and I hope this season feels fresher and leans into the family drama over the small-town dynamic. I’m intrigued to see if any of my predictions are correct, 6 August can’t come quickly enough.
