Filters

Hate to say it, but we all have filters.

Whether that be a physical filter or a mental filter.

Now let's start off with a physical filter.

This can come in many ways. This can be on social media where we are trying to look more perfect than we are in real life or showing everyone online how amazing our life is.

How we are posting for others not for ourselves and almost idolising them.

This look of beauty which is the whole point of filters is trying to make things look better than in real life.

You hear that in "real life".

Even though perfection is real, people want real.

We just don’t realise that until after and people can use filters in reality with smiles and covering up situations and pretending like everything is all good.

Making out that their life is the best it possibly could be when probably in reality it couldn't be more the opposite.

This isn’t a bad thing because it’s almost like armour, filters.

As a woman we make sure we do our hair, put makeup etc.

I know a lot of women do it to cover up the fact that they are struggling, they want to look put together so no one thinks that they haven’t.

I know this because as a woman I have done this!

For myself it isn’t necessarily a bad thing and this is why this blog looks at filters as not being a negative thing, but a positive thing as well.

It’s not always about online, making your life perfect because that can be dangerous.

That can be dangerous to people who really don’t have their life together, or don’t have the life that is perfect and it can be dangerous for them because they think they should love and they should live a life that looks like yours.

It can create pressures for people to feel like they should go on holiday that year, that their house should look this, their body should look like that.

There are so many different things that people think that their life should look like.

Which is why social media filters are negative.

What we don’t realise is we’ve been using filters for much longer than we think because everyone has got a mask, everyone is masking over something.

Filters are everywhere.

It’s just choosing what filter to have and to make sure that if you are using a filter in real life to cover up any struggles, you are asking for help and that you are putting that branch out to get help.
